Valois
Violette
2 oz Parfum with box

  • I use to collect Valois perfume bottles and have around 7 of these. Most have the labels, some don't. All are from the 1940s and many are Chypre. Sometimes they made soliflor perfumes such as Violette, Jasmin and Rose. This is my favorite of all of them. Wonderful red leaf violet perfume. They just don't make violet perfume like this anymore.

Vigny
Golliwogg
1/2 oz Parfum with box

  • Golliwogg Parfum by Vigny was launched in 1919 and is the best Musk perfume I have ever smelled. And I have a collection of thousands of perfume bottles. And this is the very best Musk. This was a sealed full bottle when I bought it in 2015. I have used half the bottle and now am willing to part with the remainder. I have several more bottles. This is a gorgeous presentation. Golliwogg is a floral chypre that is warm, dark, and rich, redolent of vanilla, musk and ambergris, deepened by the vetiver, civet and styrax. The term Golliwogg began life in the late 19th century as a doll, which appeared in a number of children's books by Florence Upton. The doll is represented by black skin, eyes rimmed in white, with red lips and frizzy black hair. Golliwoggs were loved by children of all races, along with the teddy bear, up until the 1970s and were collected in the Caribbean. The bottle design was created by Michel de Brunoff and his brother-in-law Lucien Vogel (one of the founders of Vigny perfume house) - both editors of the French Vogue. Vogue France is the French edition of Vogue magazine that was created in 1920. The box is 3 1/2" tall by 2 1/2" square. It is in perfect conditon. There is no volume size on the bottle, but I would guess it is 1/2 oz size. The nose behind this fragrance was Jacque Vogel. Top notes: Aldehydes, Cloves and Bergamot Middle notes: Ylang-Ylang, Violet, Jasmine, Rose and Lily-of-the-Valley Base notes are Civet, Vanilla, Amber, Tonka Bean, Styrax, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Oakmoss and Musk. I will transfer the contents into a new screw top bottle to insure perfume arrives safely, and will include a pipette to transfer it back into the bottle.

Vigny
Golliwogg
2 oz Parfum sealed with ties

  • Perfume is full and still sealed with its ties. Bottom of bottle is marked 70% alcohol. Today we classify anything less than 68% alcohol as parfum. This is from the 1920s. Label is in fine condition for being 100 years old. His hair feels like it might be mink. I would classify Golliwogg has a musk perfume and probably the best ever made.

Le Golliwogg perfume is named after a character from children's stories of 19th century and the African culture, although today that inspiration and design can be considered very racist. It was launched in 1919 in France, and in 1925 in USA.
