Gemey
2 oz perfume

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • This is from the 1930-40 era with a metal cap. The top of label is worn off but I think it may have said toilet water. This is from a collection of unused bottles that had been rubbing against each other for 65+ years, so this may not have been used, as many of the others still have seals. The perfume inside is in excellent condition, although the water and alcohol have almost all evaporated. What is left is very pleasant and wearable, so I am just calling this perfume. There is more than 1/3 left, I would guess about 20 ml.

Fleurs d’Amour
2 oz Parfum

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • Fleurs d’Amour was launched in 1902. This is one of the earliest perfumes marketed by Roger and Gallet in America. Rogers & Gallet used Baccarat to produce the bottles for the Fleurs d’Amour. Many of the bottles made prior to 1936 were not marked or stamped Baccarat. This bottle is not marked Baccarat indicating an early production. The foil over paper label is wearing thin. It has two other labels on the bottle showing it was compounded in the USA and another indicating the volume.

It is classified as a floral fragrance for women.

Top notes: aldehydes, bergamot, orange, lemon, rose geranium, galbanum

Middle notes: carnation, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, lilac, lily of the valley, violet

Base notes: patchouli, civet, tonka bean, oakmoss, ambergris, benzoin, opoponax, musk, sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver

Bottle has about 3/4 oz of perfume remaining.

Le Jade
1 oz Parfum in box

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • Le Jade was created in 1923. I think this is from the 1930s but it could be 1920s. Just a small amount of parfum left and it is out of this world good!.

I created the box to display this bottle in.

Incredibly rare to find a bottle with parfum in it. It is that good.

    Bottle was designed by Lalique.

Rubyat
Inspired by a 1920s bottle
1/2 oz New in box

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • This is a 1/2 oz vintage bottle of Rubyat Perfume in its box. I’m not sure of its age but Rubyat perfume was first produced in 1950. I think these are from the early 60s. I have a case of these, 24 or so, that I bought a long time ago. All bottles are in their boxes, and the bottles have plastic plugs. There shouldn't be any evaporation. Rubyat is a very pleasant perfume, and the bottle is very cool to display.

Enchanted Dance
20 ml Pure Parfum

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • This is a replica of an art nouveau bottle designed by Lucien Gaillard and created for Brosse in 1913. Shiseido created this perfume to commemorate the company's sponsorship of the exhibition, "Dance" in the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1986.
Spectacular bottle that features a dancer with her arms outstretched wearing a beautiful flowing gown. It has a beautiful frosted stopper that a photo doesn't capture its beauty. It is an absolute joy to admire.
Bottle is nearly full minus some evaporation. Still has its cellophane wrapper around box.

Violette
2 oz Parfum with box

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • I use to collect Valois perfume bottles and have around 7 of these. Most have the labels, some don't. All are from the 1940s and many are Chypre. Sometimes they made soliflor perfumes such as Violette, Jasmin and Rose. This is my favorite of all of them. Wonderful red leaf violet perfume. They just don't make violet perfume like this anymore.

Vigny
Golliwogg
1/2 oz Parfum with box

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • Golliwogg Parfum by Vigny was launched in 1919 and is the best Musk perfume I have ever smelled. And I have a collection of thousands of perfume bottles. And this is the very best Musk. This was a sealed full bottle when I bought it in 2015. I have used half the bottle and now am willing to part with the remainder. I have several more bottles. This is a gorgeous presentation. Golliwogg is a floral chypre that is warm, dark, and rich, redolent of vanilla, musk and ambergris, deepened by the vetiver, civet and styrax. The term Golliwogg began life in the late 19th century as a doll, which appeared in a number of children's books by Florence Upton. The doll is represented by black skin, eyes rimmed in white, with red lips and frizzy black hair. Golliwoggs were loved by children of all races, along with the teddy bear, up until the 1970s and were collected in the Caribbean. The bottle design was created by Michel de Brunoff and his brother-in-law Lucien Vogel (one of the founders of Vigny perfume house) - both editors of the French Vogue. Vogue France is the French edition of Vogue magazine that was created in 1920. The box is 3 1/2" tall by 2 1/2" square. It is in perfect conditon. There is no volume size on the bottle, but I would guess it is 1/2 oz size. The nose behind this fragrance was Jacque Vogel. Top notes: Aldehydes, Cloves and Bergamot Middle notes: Ylang-Ylang, Violet, Jasmine, Rose and Lily-of-the-Valley Base notes are Civet, Vanilla, Amber, Tonka Bean, Styrax, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Oakmoss and Musk. I will transfer the contents into a new screw top bottle to insure perfume arrives safely, and will include a pipette to transfer it back into the bottle.

Golliwogg
2 oz Parfum sealed with ties

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • Perfume is full and still sealed with its ties. Bottom of bottle is marked 70% alcohol. Today we classify anything less than 68% alcohol as parfum. This is from the 1920s. Label is in fine condition for being 100 years old. His hair feels like it might be mink. I would classify Golliwogg has a musk perfume and probably the best ever made.

Le Golliwogg perfume is named after a character from children's stories of 19th century and the African culture, although today that inspiration and design can be considered very racist. It was launched in 1919 in France, and in 1925 in USA.

1/2 oz Parfum

  • This was first released in 1919 and is a highly collectible bottle. It is still sealed with string and label is in perfect condition. Vigny created this bottle in many sizes. This is the smallest size.

This is a floral chypre that is warm, dark, and rich, redolent of vanilla, musk and ambergris, deepened by the vetiver, civet and styrax. The nose behind this fragrance was Jacque Vogel.

Violet (Veolay)
Royal Lily Parfum in box
Released in 1903

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • Maison Violet was established around 1810 in Paris and the business was originally known as "A la Reine des Abeilles." The shop was located at 317 rue St. Denis. Violet also had a laboratory located at La Plaine St. Denis in France, where they manufactured their perfumes and cosmetics, as well as other vanity items. They were known for their outstanding quality and became the suppliers to the English, Spanish, French and Russian Crowns.

Violet maintained a luxury image throughout much of it's existence and won many prize medals at exhibitions: 1849, 1851, 1855, 1862, 1875 (Sydney, bronze medal), as well as the Grand Prix at the Exposition Universelle in both 1867 and 1900, where the Violet products as a whole were awarded the prize.

This bottle shows the award won in 1900 and is evidence of its manufacture date.

This sealed, vintage perfume bottle with its box is truly a marvel to behold its condition. A star in a special perfume collection. Outstanding!

Bottle is embossed around the neck "A la Reine des Abeilles." The bottle is also embossed "Violet" and with a bee. The neck is wrapped with lamb skin sealing the bottle. The box has the original angel hair padding in fair condition. There is some minor wear and missing some of the gold foil around the bottom edge of the box. Small nick to the label on front of the box. Labels on the bottle and the box match perfectly and are in perfect condition other than the previous mentioned nick to the front label. The hinge and the ribbon on the box is in perfect condition.

This would make an excellent gift for the perfume collector of early French Houses.

  • Another beautiful and rare 1930s perfume from my personal collection. This cute little bottle came to me with the top encased in wax. It took a great deal of effort to clean it up, to get to the perfume and it was worth the effort, although it is nearly empty but the scent is very memorable. I actually bought another large bottle with perfume for a hefty price because of smelling this little bottle. It is nice to buy small bottles first to know if you will like the perfume, especially when it is a high dollar, rare perfume like Noir. See the photo of how it looked with the wax around the stopper.

It is defined as a light, woody, oriental perfume with a dominant tuberose notes.
Top notes: aldehydes, mandarin, peach and bergamot Middle notes: jasmine, rose, tuberose, iris, orange blossom, camphor Base notes: ambergris, incense, musk, styrax, sandalwood, vanilla, leather, orris, vetiver, oakmoss

Dans la Nuit
1/2 oz Parfum with box

Click on each photo for larger view of it

  • This is a delicious scent and an adorable little bottle still sealed. It appears a little more than 1/3 full.

Worth's 'Dans la Nuit' (In the Night) was launched in 1922 in Paris, France. This was Worth's signature fragrance. It was initially a gift to distinguished clientele of the fashion house. The perfume’s production was halted during WWII, and it didn’t reach counters on US shores again until 1953.

Worth collaborated with René Lalique into creating memorable bottles for the fragrances. Dans la Nuit was encased in a blue bottle bearing the stars of the night time sky.

Top notes are aldehydes, Green Notes, Violet, Bergamot, and Lemon Heart notes are Carnation, Cinnamon, Orris Root, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Lily of the Valley, and Rose Base notes are Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Amber, Musk, Civet, Vanilla and Vetiver.
