This incredible perfume was designed by Ernest Daltroff, who was co-proprietor with Felicie Vanpouille of Caron Paris. Before 1920s, manufacturers used the same bottles. But Caron wanted to create a bottle unique for this wonderful new perfume, so Vanpouille designed a bottle that would stand out from all the rest of the perfumes on the market. This perfume was such a raging success that not only did other pefumers copy the fragrance but they copied the bottle, as well. Caron immediately began to patent their bottles, and other companies followed suit. Caron was in the courts for years about copyright infringement on their designs.
Caron was founded in 1903 by Ernest Daltroff. Fascinated by scent, he purchased a perfumery in Asinieres, near Paris, France. He also bought out a shop owned by Anna-Marie Caron and kept the name, thinking that it would sound better for the business
.
In 1904, Daltroff met a young dressmaker, Felicie Vanpouille. She became his lover and an active business partner, taking over the design and packaging of the Caron products. 1939 brought the threat of war and Daltroff, a Jew, left Paris for Canada.
After Daltroff's death in 1941, Vanpouille became the sole owner of Caron.
The fragrance was a blend of Orange blossom, bergamot, petitgrain, lemon, rose, jasmine, jonquil, Persian black narcissus, musk, civet, and sandalwood. And I have to say it is the best scent I have ever smelled. This is such a beauty, I hate to part with it.
It stands about 1 3/4" tall and has no damage. The bottle is glass and the stopper is black glass with a flower on top. There is a string holding the stopper on the bottle, it is also in excellent condition and I believe may be original. The stopper is clean and the bottle is about 3/4 full. Someone took good care of this one, great addition to your collection! |

Cheramy's first well known perfume was introduced in 1921 by Ramond Couin, called Cappi. The labels on bottles of Cappi products read Cappi and Cheramy New York. In 1922, Houbigant bought Cheramy made it a division to market its lower-priced products
primarily to the US market. Bottles created in the 1930s list both New York and Paris on them.
I believe this bottle was created within 6 or 7 years of the buy out, as the label reads
Cheramy New York. Permit S.D.A.N.Y. 2269, Comp'd in U.S. Cap. 4. oz Net.
It is 4 1/2" tall and 2 3/4" at its widest point and 1 1/2" thick. It is a heavy gorgeous bottle with diagonal ribbing around the bottle and a complimentary cream colored bakelite cap that is also sturdy. Has Cheramy in raised lettering on the bottom of the bottle, and the number 1. I believe this may be a very rare bottle. The number 1 may indicate the first scent created and marketed after the merger. Or perhaps this was their first bakelite capped bottle after the glass manufacturers
had installed the new bottling machines that allowed them to create bottles in one process with the outside screw threads on the bottles. It does have seams going down both sides of the entire bottle through the neck. But insead of having a flat top it has a top groove to the bottle. I have not seen this on another bottle. It is a quality machine made 1925-1929 heavy walled bottle.
The label shows hanging paper laterns and just says "frolic". This seems to me to also reflect the era of the late 1920s. The thin paper
label is dirty and a little faded. And does no justice to this beautiful bottle. But it is intact. Now the best part of this bottle is that when I found it is was sealed, with a silver lining on the bottle
opening with most of the contents inside. Later when I went to show it to someone and unscrewed the top, the bottle hissed as I was opening it, and the silver foil stayed in the lid. Sigh. I guess I had tightened it too much. Now the foil comes on and off the lid, staying on the bottle. And the liquid appears to be evaporating. I won't open it again. Although it is very pleasant smelling and not as alcoholic
smelling as other old Toilettes I have smelled.

A smaller label says Made in Cuba, Pando Llano & Co. Havana, Cuba. The bottle has the Myrurgia name on the bottom as well. From a estate sale, right out of the bathroom which was literally piled high with vanity items, many of which were unopened and there for decades. This is probably circa 1940-1950 . |

Great collector's item. A book that opens (it has a green satin ribbon that ties and holds together) and inside is a book "Scents of Time" Perfume from Ancient Egypt and the 21st Century. This book reveals perfume's widespread and permanent place in our culture of the senses, through illustrations, artefacts and paintings dating from 2000 BCE.
The reader is guided through the ages through the bronze vessels of Babylon, kohl containers from Egypt, blown-glass amphorae from ancient Rome and the Islamic world,
porcelain pot-pourris from the court of Louis XV of France, to the glass creations of Lalique in the 20th century.
It also contains 8 bottles of perfume blended by the perfumers of Givaudan Roure. There is Frankincense, representing Egypt and the ancient near east, Rose, the favorite scent of the classical world, Sandlewood-Jasmine, a blend reflective of Islamic world and India, Orange Blossom, which originated in East Asia, Spice, a blend of aromatics emblematic of the Renaissance, Eau de Cologne, a refreshing fragrance first used in eighteenth-century Europe, Millefleurs, a floral blend with twentieth century aldehydic chemistry and Sportif, a fresh, citrus fragrance anticipating trends of the twenty first century.

L'Aimant De Coty perfume, created in 1927 by Vincent Roubert in collaboration with Francois Coty. L'Aimant, which means both "loving her" and "the magnet" in French. It has been said to have the following notes: aldhehydes, bergamot, neroli, peach, jasmine, rose and vanilla. It has also been described by different reviewers, after the strong aldehydes hit you, the scent becomes very creamy and buttery soft. As time goes by, it evolves from plummy apricot frutiness down to violets, jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla.
This deco-style splash bottle measures approximately 3 1/4" Tall x 1 3/8" Wide. The label on the bottom of the bottle says "COTY New Yorks Paris Cont. 0.80 ozs." The glass on the bottom is molded "COTY 2 (inside a circle)". The bottle bottle is pre-owned, but is full. Any loss may be due to evaporation over the years. The bottle, labels and red cap are all in fantastic vintage condition. |

I beleive this is from the early 1970s, although I saw that one sold on Worthpoint and the description said theirs was from the 1940s, and it looked exactly like mine, with the plastic cover. But since clear plastic wasn't used until the 1950s, their description seems like misinformation.

This is a very cool bottle. It has its label around the neck stating it is Narcissus and the one on the back says Vivienne, Reg. Pat. Pending, New York Paris. It has enamelled flowers on the front side, and the foil label with the name of the perfume on the back side. Has a blue stopper, that I don't know if is original or not. The size makes sense to the size of the bottle but the cork has been replaced and so it is not possible to authenticate if the blue colored stopper was part of he original design of the bottle. Sure looks great with the blue stopper. I don't recall seeing another blue stopper like this on any bottle. So the stopper alone is cool, and then the bottle is so unique. Great display piece as it pops out at you in a group of bottles. Real eyecatcher! Can't find any information about this company.
I can date the bottle by the fact that it has an applied bottom from a 3 part mold, which was just coming into fashion from 1929 on. Probably also has an applied neck, which would make it a 4 part mold. |

This is the original fragrance from the Egyptian Collection by Muehlens, West Germany that was introduced in 1981. This fragrance is discontinued and hard to find. It was distributed in the US by Cantilene Inc, a division of Payot. Here we have the original reflective gold box packaging with King Tut shown in his blue crown, turquoise necklace, and the sun above. The side of the box reads, “Depiction of the Pharaoh Tutankhamen (approx. 12th cent. B.C.) on a gold unguent container: Pharaoh Tutankhamen is shown wearing a leather cap, the Blue Crown, a sign of his divinity.” Edge wear on box.
Amun has opening notes that are of a waxy lemon, shortly followed by deep florals, jasmine, ylang-ylang, and rose. It has a resinous incense base, maybe with rosewood, that keeps me reaching for more. Let this scent take you back to the days of the pharaohs and their opulence… |

This is an usual item to find. I collect Egyptian artifacts and bottles. This is a rare item to find. Beautiful colors. The bottom is stamped "Zariffa" with a Giraffe. I have seen one other box like this for sale in England, and that box was identical except Benghazi was stamped on the front of their box. I would say this was made between 1890 to 1920 or so. There is minor rust on the clasp on the front. No rips or defect on the interior of the box. I bought this 8 years ago and it had two bottles of perfume oil in it. I don't know where I put the bottles, so this listing is for the box only. Great item to store your Egyptian perfume oils in.

This must have been a pre-release bottle, as it has a date on the bottom of 1991. According to sources on the web, Sublime was released late in 1992. Also the size of this bottle is different from others you will find, that are 1.7 oz. This is a 1 oz bottle. I have owned it for 10 years. It has the original Cobalt Stopper with marks underneath that read 137\with a curlicue. This shows that the stopper has never been ground down. It measures 5 3/4" tall and 4" wide. Under the base is the stamp "Guerlain, Paris, France, along with the circular Baccarat seal. There are no chips, but the bottom show a minor bit of wear. The Andrew Jergens Company of Cincinnati, developed the Ben Hur line of toiletries in 1904. Based on the title of a bestselling novel by Lew Wallace from 1880, a high grossing Broadway production from 1898, and later, a silent movie.
People sell imitations of Ben Hur, and they describe the scent as roses and ylang ylang. I smell Tonka Bean and Orange blossoms. Really nice perfume. I think Calvin Kleins's Obsession was a their attempt to copy Ben Hur. |

Beautiful bottle with a glass stopper. Gold paint is in fantastic condition. No label on this bottle. Lovely vintage fragrance. This was one of my first bottles I collected and I have treasured it. See the 1960 ad for this fragrance. Toujours Moi, an exotic, woodsy fragrance, started life as the favored incense used in the Notre Dame cathedral of France. Hundreds of years later in 1923, the great House of Corday translated that incense into a classic perfume which would be known as their signature fragrance.
Toujours Moi is a floral woody amber feminine parfum featuring notes of sandalwood, vetiver, musk, jasmine and orange blossom, lavender and lilac with vetiver, and incense undertones.
The bottle and its packaging designs were originally designed by Lucien Gaillard, a jeweler from Paris who was a close friend of Rene Lalique. The fragrance was discontinued in 1961. The name of the fragrance translates to Always Me. |

Stopper is perfect with grapes and leaves raised on top. Bottle has the same raised motif running down corners of bottle. Bottle has age bubbles and slight purple tint. Bottle is clean and stopper is removable and still holds a great seal. The best part of this bottle is the fantastic Jasmine perfume inside, which is in excellent condition. I would guess there is about 2 oz of perfume still inside.

The infamous Caron Nuit de Noel. This bottle still has the original box, although someone along the way cut the bottom tassle off so that the bottle would stand up in the box. It originally had the tassle on the bottom, so the bottle would either be stored upside down on laying down, hence why you will find so many still sealed with no perfume and a stained box. This is the perfect example. Bottle has never been cleaned and the perfume is dried around the neck and heavenly. The stopper is not frozen and you can lift it up a touch, and enjoy the wonderful aroma. A true delight. |

This is a very early Eau de Toilette flacon that was first used in 1923, made by Pochet et du Courval. It has natural aged patina on the stopper that is quite beautiful, and there is also the tax stamp on the bottom of the bottle, in great condition. There are bubbles in the glass, and some perfume residue left in bottle. Stopper is on tight.
Don't be confused by the many similar bottles that are out there. This bottle has a wide lip on the neck and the body shape is slightly different. This identifies it as made in the early 20s. Guerlain used the Goutte bottle up until 2001. This bottle was also made by different manufacturers over the years, but it was created as the standard Eau de Toilette presentation. The frosted glass stopper is made of two cockle shells, the label depicts two dolphins known as Etiquette Dauphin. This bottle held over 30 different perfumes. Rue de la Paix was once an important street of Parisian fashion and fashionable society, before it moved further to avenue Montaigne - Champs Elysées area. The Guerlain perfume (named after their shop located in the now so famous jewellers street) wanted to capture that atmosphere of fashion, style and good taste as it was perceived in the Belle Époque Era.
Rue de la Paix is a very sweet jasmin-rose perfume with a amber base. Rue de la Paix is exactly what good taste was supposed to be in that time. Harmony, a bit of everything, not too much flowers, not too much amber, not too sweet. If you compare Rue de la Paix with L'Heure Bleue or Shalimar - those are different worlds and an example of how tastes changed.
Bottle stands 6.5" tall and can hold 8.4 oz of perfume. |

Another lovely Chypre perfume from the 1940s. They really made great Chypres between 1930 and 1957. This is another great perfume for the perfumista collection of classic scents.
Ma Griffe was launched in 1946. The nose behind this fragrance was Jean Carles.
Top notes are aldehydes, gardenia, green notes, asafoetida, clary sage and lemon; middle notes are iris, orange blossom, orris root, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley and rose; base notes are labdanum, sandalwood, cinnamon, musk, benzoin, oakmoss, vetiver and styrax.
Bottle was sealed and received a small injury to the stopper when it was opened. I didn't even see it until I looked closely at the photo. Not noticeable. Great foil label. Bottle stands 3 1/4" tall and is 80% full of original perfume in wearable condition. |

This is old formula from the 1940s era and was sealed until recently. All top notes are still present and it is quite spectacular.
There is a noticeable amount of tobacco and leather within this fragrance. There is also an element of smoke at the beginning, which is maintained but to a lesser degree throughout the rest of the duration. The leather stays quite prominent however. Newer versions don't smell like this.
Bottle leaked in transit and stained the box. Cord is still loose around neck. Box is in great condition, except for the perfume stains. The box smells lovely. Bottle is a 2 oz size and is more than 1/2 full (1 oz). Lovely perfume. |

You were so right to encourage me to get this, I wouldn't have been happy with a tiny No 90 bottle - this one is to die for, so beautiful. And the perfume! I have a bottle of the reformulated EDP spray, and while that's nice in its way, it would be more accurate for Guerlain to say that the modern version is merely reminiscent of Shalimar. I'm glad you still have a healthy supply of vintage Shalimar in the No 90 bottles. This perfume is big - the small bottle is no match, symbolically.

Duo perfume set in black and gold bottles. 1940s-50, full of perfume and nice smelling. Nice labels in excellent condition. Sturdy, hinged box has some wear and tear, some staining, but in fair condition.
There is a book out about this fascinating company and its long history in perfume and extract creation. The original enterprise began in 1798 by Robert Bach, an importer of drugs and chemicals, who had a apothecary shop at 128 Pearl Street in New York.
George M. Olcott was hired by Dodge & Covill, importers of cosmetics, essential oils, chemicals and drugs in 1857. In 1862, John Covill retired and Olcott was taken into the partnership and the firm's name was modified to reflect his new role.
Dodge & Olcott continued to merge with other companies through the years. In 1952 it was bought by Fritzsche Brothers. In 1963 the combined company was renamed Fritzche, Dodge & Olcott. In 1980, Fritzche, Dodge & Olcott was acquired by the chemical giant, BASF. In 1990 it was acquired by Givaudan.

This is where it all started...the VERY FIRST annual limited-edition perfume bottle design, which started Lalique's tradition of following annual releases of other limited-edition perfume bottles like Les Muses, Sirènes, Sylphide, Les Elfes, etc.
This is the original crystal flacon designed by Lalique in 1993 in celebration of the launch of their first women's fragrance, Lalique of Lalique. This bottle is not a reproduction of a previous design but was designed in 1993 by Lalique. This distinctive flacon is a striking combination of clear and satin-finished crystal. A frosted trellis of winding hand-sculpted honeysuckle leaves surrounds a clear center, which holds the amber colored fragrance. Crowning the flacon is a fan shaped stopper.
The bottle is a 2.5 oz and is 4 1/2" tall. The atomizer has never been removed from the box and is a gold color with a long tassel. A lovely bottle and the perfume is wonderful. This bottle has been stored and there has been alittle bit of a leak, and I decanted a small amount of the perfume for my scent library. The leak is not noticeable in the box as the perfume settled into the shape of the bottle. It has a plastic sleeve that goes around the outside of the box, so the box is in pristine condition. |

Sold new in 1999 for $350. This wonderful Caron Special Edition was created to usher in the year 2000. Instead of a black bottle they created a special white bottle with gold dots, that nestles on a cushion of gold-coloured satin. The tone is set by the luxurious case made of white porcelain with raised golden dots. Under the pillows is a bar to prop up the lid.
The adorable bottle contains 1 ounce of the pure perfume. Bottle is still sealed and completely full and there are no interior stains on the pillows or box. There is a smal smudge mark on the side of the box, which may be removable. Original price tag on the box states the purchase price was $350. I have seen this vintage special edition bottle sell for $600 and up.
Nuit de Noel is French for Christmas Eve.
This is a gorgeous presentation and the perfume is to die for.
What a wonderful Christmas gift this will be for some lucky lady. |
